Day 45

What I did:

Since Day 45 was actually yesterday, I guess I have two weeks from today to see how far this experiment brought me, what changes I saw and what I learned from the entire experiment. My wheels are already turning!

Yesterday I had my second MRI brain scan. Let's see if I can describe this procedure for anyone who has not had the experience! To begin with, they lay you down on a table, secure your head in an immobilizing helmet and stuff the helmet with headphones and foam to make sure your head is good and stuck. Then they give you a bulb to squeeze if you feel "closed in" as the table you are lying on slides into a very narrow tube. Once you convince yourself that you won't panic from the feeling of being encapsulated in a test tube, they begin taking images of your head and the sound of jack-hammers drown out any music you may have been trying to listen to. This goes on off and on for about a half-hour until they slide you out to give you an IV while your head is still in the vice. Slide back in. More images taken until they are satisfied that you will never set foot in an elevator again without breaking out in a cold sweat.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that great, either. I needed to remain calm so...I prayed.

What I learned:

I learned that praying for others is the perfect antidote for fearful situations. Kathy, my prayer partner, and I have already agreed to pray for each other throughout the week, so I began praying for her. I found myself instantly calmed as I lifted her up in prayer. It seems that when we are feeling like we are in some sort of trouble, we often send "panic" prayers upwards. As I got off the panic topic and began really petitioning the Lord for the requests of others, I didn't even have time, or the need to worry about my predicament. It was very eye opening!

Until Tomorrow~~~Elizabeth
