Day 30

What I did:

I spent the day working and the evening/night watching my grandson. I am amazed at how much can go south when another element is added into the mix of an already busy day. All of the chaos from a 15 month old child was compounded by the fact that my kids' grandmother is visiting from Georgia, and came in the house a few times with the kids. My surroundings usually don't have half-dried chicken tenders lurking in corners of the room where I can't see them. It's only when the baby is here and gets up to walk around with a piece of his supper stuck to his hand.

I have begun settling in at about the same time each night, and had a great day with regard to my diet. I didn't lose any more weight, but I wouldn't expect to lose every single day. The key here is to make healthy choices.

I also offered to stop at my local supermarket to get some grapefruit for a friend of mine and also offered to cut it up for her last night. I did watch "Biggest Loser" last night (Sunshine almost got voted off...whew), and had the time to do this favor for my friend while I watched it. It felt good to actually do something productive while making the time for a show I really like to watch.

What I learned:

I learned that I need to come up with a plan for those times when it all seems to be heading in the wrong direction. I knew I was going to have a lot more to do today because I needed to focus on the baby. I can't run around chasing him all the time, so I have to find a way to do more damage control. Yes, he really is that active!! I think it was different when I was raising my own challenging son (who will remain nameless, but you know who you are, Darlin') My house reflected the fact that I had a youngster who needed gates and limits. I believed, and still do, that it's usually better to train the child not to touch something rather than removing it from their reach, but there is an age between one and three when the training doesn't sink in as much as later in life - and then they become teenagers!

So I learned that I need to figure out what to do when all I've tried to accomplish gets changed by a thirty pound locomotive chugging through the house. I think God makes the challenging little kids just a tad cuter - It keeps us smiling :) Learning that I need more learning is the first step, I guess. I'll have more time in the next few days to try to figure it all out when he spends the night again.

Until Tomorrow~~~Elizabeth
